Weather Blog: Cooler Weather Into The Weekend

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Happy fall! Friday morning at 4:04 a.m. marked the time of the autumnal equinox ushering in the new season.

We were certainly feeling fall-like with highs in the Twin Cities nearly 10 degrees below-average. In fact, five of the last seven days featured below-average high temperatures.

The cooler weather will persist into the weekend due to an upper level low situated over the Great Lakes. Expect highs in the low-60s in the Twin Cities Saturday and Sunday with warmer temperatures across western Minnesota and conversely cooler highs across western Wisconsin.

The upper low will also keep more clouds in place across eastern portions of the region, yet expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions in the Twin Cities and west throughout the upcoming weekend.

A warming trend is taking shape for next week with a much needed chance of rain in the forecast by next Thursday.
