Authorities ID SD Teen Hit, Killed By Pickup

DE SMET, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities have identified a South Dakota teenager who died after being struck by a vehicle on a street in De Smet.

The Highway Patrol says 16-year-old Zachary Eichstadt of De Smet was one of two pedestrians hit Friday by a pickup truck that allegedly did not stop at a stop sign. The second pedestrian was treated for minor injuries.

Twenty-eight-year-old James Harris of Anoka, Minn., is accused of driving the pickup. He was due in court Monday on charges of drunken driving, hit and run, and vehicular homicide.
