'Clipper Clinic' Comes To Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The first "clipper clinic" has arrived on West Broadway in Minneapolis.

Residents could visit the mobile clinic on 1109 West Broadway to get their blood pressure and cholesterol checked. Plus, they could get a free haircut at Wilson's Image Barbers.

"The main idea behind it is to actually take health care to where the people are in their comfort zones, where they believe and worship and play," said Dr. Kola Okuyemi.

The clinic is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Medical School and Southside Health Services, also U-Care and the Hue-Man Partnership Project.

The doctor said there will be more Clipper Clinics at other neighborhood barber shops.
