Fairmont Woman Sentenced In Overdose Death

FAIRMONT, Minn. (AP) -- A Fairmont woman has been sentenced to a year in jail for sharing her painkillers with a friend who died of an overdose.

Thirty-three-year-old Tamara Lynn Hill pleaded guilty last month to third-degree murder in the death of 39-year-old Thomas Anderson of Fairmont, who she allowed to use some of her Fentanyl pain patches. He was found dead Oct. 12.

The Sentinel reports Hill sobbed through most of her sentencing Monday.

Hill must also spend 25 years on probation. If she commits any violations, she could have to serve seven years and two months in prison.

As he handed down the sentence, Judge Robert Walker said the public needs to hear that misused prescription drugs kill more people and ruin more lives than drugs sold on the street.
