Baby Born On Minn. Roadside With Help From Deputy

BIG LAKE TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) -- A woman gave birth to a baby girl on the side of the road in Big Lake Township, Minn. Thursday morning.

According to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office, the woman went into labor at work and tried to drive to New River Hospital in Monticello.

She called 911 and pulled over at the intersection of County Roads 14 and 30, where she was met by a deputy.

It wasn't even 15 minutes between the time of her call and the moment she delivered her baby, with assistance by Deputy Aaron Sturm.

"That was probably the most excited I've ever been when I had my kid," said Sturm. "And this was probably close to the being the second (most) excited I've ever been."

The mother and newborn were taken to New River Hospital. Authorities said both are doing well.
