Wind Advisory In Effect For Much Of Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Take one step outside and it's pretty clear -- it's a tad blustery out there.

So much so, in fact, that a wind advisory has been issued for much of the state until 7 p.m. Thursday.

Northwest winds will be constant around 25 to 40 mph, with gusts reaching as high as 40 to 50 mph. The higher gusts will begin closer to the evening hours.

A few gusts of more than 50 mph will be possible during heavier showers across west central Wisconsin and far east central Minnesota.

The National Weather Service warns that loose objects could be blown around, including small and weak branches that could come down in the wind.

Winds of this strength can also make driving more difficult, especially for larger vehicles. Drivers should use extra caution.
