Man Gets Nearly 5 Years In Vehicular Homicide Case

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Pine County man was sentenced to nearly five years in prison Friday in connection with a May 2010 accident that took the life of a 17-year-old girl.

Walton Snyder was charged with criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the incident. He pleaded guilty Friday in Pine County Court and was sentenced to 58 months in prison.

Snyder was driving a car with three others inside when it crashed into a tree and started on fire. Three people escaped the car, but Agnes Mattinas didn't. Through an investigation of the crash, authorities learned Snyder drank 15 to 20 beers and vodka throughout the night of the crash. The car was also stolen.

The crash was apparently so bad that it took investigators several months to identify Mattinas's body, which caused the case to take longer to investigate.
