Are We On The Verge Of A Drought?

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University of Minnesota climatologist Mark Seely said it's a little too early to use the "D" word, but we've gone six weeks without a decent rain.

Last month was the driest September on record in the Twin Cities.

"We don't see -- at least most meteorologists don't see -- a return to a wetter pattern coming up soon," said Seely.

And fall is an important time for crops, lawns, plants and trees.

"The fall season is the season of the year where the large majority of our precipitation goes into storage in the soil."

Seely said it's important for property owners to water between now and the first hard freeze.
