MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — An East Bethel woman has been charged after police say she burglarized a home several times in order to fund her porn addiction.

Amanda Rose Owens, 18, is charged with second-degree burglary for allegedly taking items from her neighbor’s home on the 2300 block of Erskin Street Northeast in East Bethel, on three occasions last week. Darin Pake told police a camera and a jar containing $300 were stolen.

Pake said he set up a camera to find out who was burglarizing his home and discovered it was his neighbor and former babysitter, later identified as Owens.

“I came home from work, checked the tapes and saw somebody coming off the deck, though I couldn’t see who it was,” said Pake. “Then I went to the inside camera and they came in and wandered around and wow, I couldn’t believe who it was.”

The video footage shows Owens squeezing into the home through the doggy door at 7:50 a.m. on Saturday from outside the home. Once inside, she’s seen rummaging through the neighbor’s things, drinking a Red Bull from the fridge and leaving the residence at 8:10 a.m.

After being confronted about the alleged burglaries, Owens told police she is addicted to pornography, had purchased 20 to 30 DVDs and owed money, which is why she burglarized her neighbor’s home.

“Taking things is one thing,” said Pake, “and then you hear the weird porn twist behind it. It is just crazy.”

She said she entered the home on three separate days and took items she intended to pawn for cash.

“She’s got her own demons to deal with,” said Pake, “and hopefully she learns from the experience.”

      I agree. Why would something like this even make the news!! I never write on this, but his was upsetting to me that it would make the news. This is someones daughter. I would like to know the reason why the home owner would report this. There is someting more going on here than what is being reported!

I have a question though…….the homeowner lost over $300 but the story said he might get the money back from a victims fund!!!! Where the heck are her perents. My kid did something like this I would pay my neighbor back and the kid would be working to pay me back……It is not just the childs “Porn addiction” at work here, unless she has a meth addiction, and her apperance does suggest that, I would say there is defiatly some lack of proper perenting here.     What I would not want someone like this to babysit my kids. I am glad she got caught cuz who knows what she could of did to these kids if she that much of a sicko. I would not trust her at all with kids. But more likely she lied and was supporting her drug habit as well by stealing. Of coarse she is not going to tell the police that hello!
