MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office reported early Saturday morning that they believe a kayaker is missing somewhere on the north side of Lake Mille Lacs.

Search and rescue crews found a kayak late Friday night, but it was empty when they found it and have yet to locate the person who was in it. Emergency crews searched Lake Mille Lacs into the night for the kayaker before it got too dark for the search.

Crews will continue their search Saturday morning and the incident remains under investigation.
