Lynx Celebrations Set For Tuesday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Lynx are basking in the glory of a National Championship. The team was honored at the Minnesota Vikings game Sunday and will have a parade in their honor Tuesday.

"It's going to begin at 11:30 a.m. It's going to start on the corner of 12th Street and Nicollet, so it's going to go down Nicollet Avenue," said Conrad Smith, Lynx CEO. "Go down a handful of blocks and take a left onto 7th and that's going to lead us directly into Target Center."

The celebration doesn't stop after the parade. According to Smith, there'll be a rally at Target Center that will get underway around 12:15 p.m.

"If you can make the parade, which would be great, 11:30. If not, just come on down to Target Center and we've got a really, really fun rally planned there as well," said Smith.

The well-deserved parade and rally will follow breakfast at the governor's residence.

Fans have been really supportive of the team. Smith said it took the Lynx players quite a while to get out of the airport after their win because there were so many people there congratulating them.

"We had about 100 people in the gate, inside the airport. Once we got to the baggage claim it was just packed, it was unbelievable, we had hundreds of people. It was just jammed. It took us almost an hour to get the players out to the bus."
