AFTON, Minn. (WCCO) – Two people were critically injured and at least four others suffered non-life threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Afton on Monday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The incident happened Monday night near the intersection of Neal Avenue South and 15th Street South in Afton.

Authorities said a 2003 Mazda Tribute was being driven by 20-year-old Blake Sowle with one other passenger, a 17-year-old boy who was not named, both from Woodbury, when it struck a 2003 Dodge Ram truck with one driver, two 3-year-old girls and a 6-year-old girl inside.

The driver of the truck, 36-year-old Benjamin Lower of Lakeland, and the three girls all suffered non-life threatening injuries. Authorities said the girls were all in child restraints at the time of the accident.
