BECKER, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities are investigating a train-vehicle crash that killed a Chaska, Minn. man  in Sherburne County Tuesday.

According to the county sheriff’s department, the crash happened in Becker Township.

At about 12:30 p.m., a car being driven by 65-year-old Dennis McKeever was traveling north along County Road 52. McKeever approached the railroad crossing at Highway 10.

Witnesses said the crossing arms were in the lowered position, and that McKeever attempted to drive around them before he was struck by the freight train.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

A propane gas line was cut in the crash, but was shut off immediately by rescue workers.

The incident is still being investigated by the sheriff’s office as well as the State Patrol.

This article was here a week ago. What gives? No new news?

  • Duh

Crossing arms down means train coming. Trains are big. Lots of momentum. Hard to stop. Can’t swerve. Cars small. Easy to stop. Just step on brake.
Drivers not always so smart. Train hits car. Passengers probably dead. Too bad. No second chance.
