Chaska Man Killed In Crash With Train
BECKER, Minn. (WCCO) -- Authorities are investigating a train-vehicle crash that killed a Chaska, Minn. man in Sherburne County Tuesday.
According to the county sheriff's department, the crash happened in Becker Township.
At about 12:30 p.m., a car being driven by 65-year-old Dennis McKeever was traveling north along County Road 52. McKeever approached the railroad crossing at Highway 10.
Witnesses said the crossing arms were in the lowered position, and that McKeever attempted to drive around them before he was struck by the freight train.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
A propane gas line was cut in the crash, but was shut off immediately by rescue workers.
The incident is still being investigated by the sheriff's office as well as the State Patrol.
