Police Search For Man Who Robbed Mpls. U.S. Bank

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minneapolis FBI is searching for a man wanted in an armed robbery of a U.S. Bank.

Authorities say a lone man robbed the U.S. Bank, at 2338 Central Ave. NE, around 9 a.m. Monday. The robber entered the bank lobby, walked up to a teller window and displayed a silver handgun.

He then demanded cash from the teller and after a brief encounter, he jumped over the counter and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from one of the drawers.

The FBI said that it is unusual that a robber helps him/herself to money.

The man then fled on foot.

No bank customers or employees were injured.

The robber is described as a black man, about 5-foot-7 with a medium build. He wore a black, hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery.

Investigators think the robber may be connected connected to several other unsolved bank robberies in the Twin Cities.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the alleged robber is asked to call the Minneapolis FBI Office at 612-376-3200, the Minneapolis Police Department at 612-673-5701 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
