Peavey Plaza Revitalization Plans Announced

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The design for the revitalization of Peavey Plaza has been released.

At a 11 a.m. press conference, the renderings of the design were released. The city plans to begin the redesign in January, with a grand opening planned for the summer of 2013.

The project will have a two-phase design effort. The first, including programming, concept design and budget development has been budgeted for about $250,000. During this phase, the public will have a chance to view the designs and ask questions of the developer.

Approval of the design is anticipated for November.

Schematic design and construction will kick off the second phase, beginning in spring of 2012.

The entire project will be finalized later this year but is estimated to cost between $8 million and $10 million.

A public open house will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Orchestra Hall, 1111 Nicollet Mall.
