Wis. Police Officer Shoots Self In Foot

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A Milwaukee police officer is recovering after shooting himself in the foot.

A WDJT-TV report says the officer and his partner were driving Saturday about 2:45 a.m. when they saw a number of people in a gas station parking lot. As the officers drove into the lot they heard multiple gunshots ring out.

While trying to get out of the car, the officer removed his gun from the holster and accidentally pulled the trigger. He fired one round into his right heel.

Police eventually arrested one suspect at the scene and recovered a gun. That investigation continues.

The officer who was wounded is 29 years old with two years of police service.
