'U' Hosts US-Canada Event On Changing Arctic
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The University of Minnesota's Institute on the Environment and the Humphrey School of Public Affairs host a symposium Thursday on the changing Arctic.
Speakers include Arctic explorer Will Steger and Canada's consul general in Minneapolis, Martin Loken.
Steger and Loken say the changes taking place in the Arctic are relevant in Minnesota, where there's a rich tradition of polar exploration, as well as Arctic scientific and educational work. They say they see the event as the beginning of a dialogue and a springboard for new ideas, partnerships and opportunities involving Minnesotans, Canadians and the Arctic.
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Humphrey School on the university's West Bank campus.
