It’s been nine years since we’ve had a night like tonight. It’s going to be near impossible to follow up the ridiculous excitement that was Game 6.

You could almost hear the sound of the heads of all baseball fans exploding as David Freese hit a walk off home run in the 11th securing a Game 7.

Here in Minnesota, you could also almost hear the collective groan by upset Twins fans who said Joe Buck stole their baseball souls by uttering his father’s famous call.

At the assignment desk tonight, I took a call from Jim who worked security at The Whitney Hotel in 1991. That’s where the CBS crew for the greatest World Series was staying. Jim met Jack Buck and Tim McCarver, and he recalled Mr. Buck’s famous call and how it was the talk around the bar that night.

Jim also mentioned meeting Jack’s son at the same time. Joe was here for his father’s famous call, and I bet his father wasn’t far from Joe’s heart when he made his call honoring his Dad and the great game they both love.
