Minneapolis Man Charged In Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 35-year-old Minneapolis man is accused of shooting another man during a Sept. 23 incident in north Minneapolis, according to charges filed in Hennepin County Court on Friday.

Lynell Tjuan Littles was charged with intentional discharge of a firearm, a felony, in connection with the incident.

According to a criminal complaint, Minneapolis Police responded to a report of a shooting on Sept. 23 in the area of Emerson Avenue North and Lowry Avenue North in Minneapolis. When authorities arrived, a juvenile male victim was lying in the street. He had been shot in the leg and was losing a substantial amount of blood.

An investigation of the incident led police to Littles, and he admitted to authorities that he had a .357 revolver and was in the area at the time of the shooting. He told police he was out to get some food and was approached by two men about buying marijuana. Littles said he the two men were trying to rob him.

One of the juveniles pulled a handgun and demanded money, and Littles slapped the gun away and pulled his revolver, the complaint states.

Littles, who does not have a permit to carry a gun, shot at the juvenile male who had a gun, according to the complaint.

Littles faces up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
