ALBERT LEA, Minn. (AP) — An Albert Lea teen is expected in court Monday on accusations he killed his family’s Chihuahua with a brick.

Court document say the 17-year-old boy recently used the brick to smash the dog’s skull. Family members called police and met officers on the porch where the dog was found next to a cinder block. Authorities say the teen set the dog on the cinder block and used a paver brick to hit its head.

One of the teen’s brothers told investigators the defendant was upset because they gave away one of the dog’s puppies. The Austin Daily Herald says the teen is being charged as a juvenile with a felony and is scheduled in Freeborn County District Court Monday afternoon.

    Maybe it ate his burrito.

  2. Sue says:

If he can kill the family dog over that just think what he is capable of later on in life, that is how killers start by mutilating animals. So sad, get this kid so serious help.

    1. em1022 says:

I agree; this teen has some seriouse issues, he definitely needs help before this develops into something even worse…poor family and poor dog.

  3. billy tough as nails says:

It’s a family situation no reason to involve government workers to ruin this kid’s life. We all get mad with decisions made by our parents. Teens act this anger in various ways like throwing knives in the back of siblings. No crime there…but a dead dog is a felony. Something is wrong with that picture.

His siblings or parents made a big mistake calling the authorities. You don’t need big government in your life. This is a family matter. Now, his brother or sister ruined any future this kid had.

    1. MsMeT says:

Really??? If this teen reacts in this fashion over a puppy being given away there is a far bigger problem and YES, the authorities need to be made aware. What is to stop this kid from murdering his entire family because “he’s mad”. This young man has crossed the line and there are serious consequences…

    2. good times says:

I disagree, more people need to call the authorities when a family member commits a violent crime. They should not try to cover it up. This wa a violent crime and needs to be addressed as such.

    3. CITBOC says:

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt…might be a ‘family situation’ like you say. But who knows what this kid has done in the past…does he have a history? Good for these parents to DO THE RIGHT THING!

This kid obviously has some MAJOR issues that need to be addressed…
otherwise who knows what the next incident would entail, when he is angry or upset the next time!

KUDO’S to whoever it was that turned him in…hopefully he will get the anger management intervention he needs. Also his brother or sister didn’t ruin his life. He ruined it ALL BY HIMSELF by the choices, HE CHOSE to make!

I am wondering why do you seem to defend his actions? Did you kill animals when you were angry??

    4. em1022 says:

Throwing knives in the backs of siblings?!?! You can’t be serious…not sure how you grew up but in households where there is structure and discipline…behavior like that is unacceptable. My son gets in big trouble for hitting the cats.

  4. Nancy Aleshire says:

This is an adult crime–he should serve adult time!!!!!!!!!!.Otherwise this kiid will do the smae thing to a child, older or disabled person.

  5. Tom says:

This 17 year old should be charged!

  6. Lisa T. says:

Talk about misplaced anger, geesh! Get this kid some serious help…and soon! Makes you wonder if this is the 1st time he’s displayed this kind of behavior or if it just wasn’t so obvious before??

  7. just sayin says:

    That just makes me sick…….

I couldn’t fathom doing something like that do a poor dog!
    What a sicko!
Maybe he should feel what a brick to the head feels like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. WhatBS says:

He just wanted to make a taco that tasted like they did in his homeland.

  9. TL the alligator says:

yo Billy…..only a fool and an imbecile would agree with you and think like you…..his sister and brother didn’t do anything to compromise this whackos life….he did it to himself. This kid is warped and in all likelyhood there would be another incident similar in the future and probably involving a person as the victim….this sicko should be locked up and subjected to intense therapy for a few years and then a determination made as to whether he is fit to live in society….as for that poor innocent dog he killed i hope he gets 500 hours of community service or 3 years in jail……or both……..and in time, i hope somebody smashes HIM in the head with a brick and ruins his life.

  10. zee the reporter says:

always something strange going on in albert lea !

  11. ozzyandus says:

we’ll be hearing his name sometime in the future…they will be identifying him as the next serial killer…OMG!

  12. poo sniffa says:

A felony! It’s just a freakin dog. most of your retired farmers would be locked up for life nowadays for what they did to their pets!

    1. Really how dumb says:

Uh. When the dogs got old, they would shoot them. There really wasn’t “vet clinics” then were there. Moron.
They didn’t bash their heads in with bricks.

  13. rml says:

A crime as violent as this…. he needs to be charged as an adult and be put away. That poor dog. This monster who did this needs to rot in prison.

  14. poo sniffa says:

Vietnamese eat their dogs. Yummy Yummy!

    1. me says:

      Wish they’d eat you. idiot.

  15. Heather says:

Ehhhh he is probably going to become murderer someday. It always starts with killing lil animals and progresses ….. Sick Lil SOB

  16. Aingyl says:

Honestly, if a puppy being given away was the catalyst for him killing the mother dog, then it sounds like this kid has some SERIOUS mental problems. Get him away from the rest of the population, do a thorough psych eval, and treat him!
