Man Charged With Murder At Mpls. Halloween Party

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A New Brighton man has been charged with murder in the death of a man at a Halloween party in Minneapolis.

Felix Hernandez-Pedraza, 26, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one-count of second-degree attempted murder in connection with a shooting at a Minneapolis house on Oct. 30.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a home on the 3000 block of Pleasant Avenue South around 6:30 a.m. on the report of a shooting.

When police arrived at the home, they learned that during a party, a fight started between Hernandez-Pedraza and the victim, identified as 21-year-old Francisco Hernandez.

The criminal complaint said during the fight, Hernandez-Pedraza pulled out a handgun, pointed it at Francisco Hernandez and started shooting. Francisco Hernandez was hit four times in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A fifth shot from the handgun hit another man in the shoulder. He was treated at HCMC.

According to the criminal complaint, witnesses said Hernandez-Pedraza was invited to the party by an ex-girlfriend and that Hernandez-Pedraza got upset when she was talking with Francisco Hernandez.

Hernandez-Pedraza was arrested as he fled the home. He told police he was at the party, he did have a gun and admitted he may have shot Francisco Hernandez.

If convicted of both counts, Hernandez-Pedraza faces up to 60 years in prison. He remains in the Hennepin County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
