Charges: Man Broke Into Cars In Mpls Parking Garage

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 40-year-old man is accused of breaking into an underground Minneapolis parking garage, breaking into cars and stealing items, according to charges filed in Hennepin County Court on Friday.

Troy Lee Hollenbach was charged with one count of second-degree burglary and one count of third-degree burglary, both felonies, in connection with the incident.

According to a criminal complaint, Minneapolis Police were called to an underground parking garage on the 900 block of Lowry Avenue Northeast on Oct. 23 on a report of a burglary and damage to property. When authorities arrived, they met with several victims who had found their motor vehicles had been broken into. About 15 vehicles were broken into, and most had damage to their windows as a point of access.

Hollenbach was identified as the suspect through surveillance video, and police know him as a current suspect in another burglary case in Minneapolis. He later confessed about the burglary to police and told authorities he used a screwdriver to damage vehicles and gain access to steal items from the cars.

Hollenbach faces up to 15 years in prison and $30,000 in fines if convicted on both counts.
