Corps Awards Souris River Levee Repairs Contract

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- A Minnesota company has landed a contract to repair levees along the Souris River in north central North Dakota that were damaged by major flooding earlier this year.

The Army Corps of Engineers says it awarded the $542,000 contract to Ceres Environmental Services Inc. of Brooklyn Park, Minn. The work will repair six levee sites in Renville County and in the cities of Burlington and Minot.

The Souris River flooded because of excessive snowmelt and rain on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border.
