Heimie’s Haberdashery is the epitome of a true gentleman’s shop helping men with the little details that add up to a signature style — from the fine fabrics and bespoke tailoring to the classic barbershop and well-worn shoe shine station.
When I asked proprietor Anthony what brings new customers to his shop he told me that it can be anything from someone ready for a new look, to someone who has never owned a suit before in their life or someone who needs help with how to groom a newly-grown mustache. He happily shared that younger men are taking notice and choosing to dress better, which is driving additional customers through the door.
Customers come in for any, and all, those reason and they remain customers for the ambiance, customer service, well-fitting clothing and ease of shopping with trusted sales advisors.
In a business-like tone, Anthony says, “What you wear says a lot about how you conduct business.”
Anthony talked about what trends he saw as the ones to look out for during this season:
The unconstructed sport coat — more relaxed but still incredibly sophisticated — is a timeless piece that will work both indoors and outdoors. A cautionary word — unstructured is not to be mistaken for sloppy.
Add a neck treatment like a scarf or ascot to cover up a bare neck. A contrasting fabric will provide an opportunity to distinguish your style while a low-contrast color or print will show you are trend-conscious in the conservative setting.
No matter what the economy dictates, the hard working classic item is always a winner. One such investment is a well-fitting sport coat in tweed, herringbone or glen-plaid. Make this classic your own by adding a custom lining in a fabric you will appreciate for years.
When you come into the store make sure to check out these other noteworthy stops. First is the grand selection of French, English and Italian fabrics for custom-made clothing.
Then peek in at the serious shop team of in-house tailors for clothing that fits like a glove.
Also get a peak at one of the cabinets that’s filled with gentlemen’s accessories including pocket watches and key rings.
