Wild Plan Boogaard Tribute Before Nov. 27 Game

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Wild have planned a special pregame tribute to the late Derek Boogaard.

The team announced Tuesday that Boogaard's father, mother, sister and two brothers are scheduled to be at Xcel Energy Center for the Sunday, Nov. 27 game against the Calgary Flames. The Wild will show a tribute video and unveil a donation to Defending The Blue Line, a nonprofit charity that helps children of military members play hockey. Boogaard was an active supporter of that group. Military members are also eligible for discounted lower level tickets for that day.

Fans attending the game will get a poster of Boogaard, who died in May of a mix of alcohol and painkillers. He was a bruising left wing for the Wild from 2005 to 2010.
