Gophers Basketball Lands 2 Players For 2012-13 Season

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota announced Wednesday that two current high school players have signed national letters of intent to play basketball for the Gophers next year.

Charles Buggs of Arlington, Texas and Wally Ellenson from Rice Lake, Wis., made their college decisions official by signing on Wednesday.

Buggs is 6 foot, 8 inch forward and is ranked highly by both ESPN and Rivals recruiting services. This past summer Buggs averaged 18.9 points and 6.3 rebounds while playing for his Triumph White AAU team.

He also had offers from Arkansas, Charlotte, Clemson, Marquette, Santa Clara, Seton Hall and West Virginia.

Ellenson is a 6 foot, 4 inch shooting guard and is ranked as the 35th best shooting guard in the country by ESPN. As a junior in high school he averaged more than 21 points per game, leading the conference.

Minnesota opens the 2011-12 season Friday night, hosting Bucknell at 7 p.m. at Williams Arena.
