'Prairie Home' Sound Effects Ace To Be Honored

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The late Tom Keith, the sound effects maestro for Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion," will be honored Saturday at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul.

The event, called "Hurrah for Tom Keith," is free. About 600 tickets will be available to the public on the day of the show, starting at 4 p.m. at the Fitzgerald Box Office.

Tickets will be handed out first-come, first-serve. The limit is two tickets per person.

If necessary, there will be overflow seating at the nearby Central Presbyterian Church with a live feed of the show.

Keith died Oct. 30 of a heart attack at age 64. He was responsible for the sounds of creaking doors, loons, cows, bagpipes and many more.

The show runs from 5-6:30 p.m.
