BENSON, Minn. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating a school bus accident in Swift County of western Minnesota that sent the bus driver and one student to hospitals with minor injuries.

State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske says a medical condition may have resulted in the Lac qui Parle Valley School District bus going into a field at U.S. Highways 12 and 59 about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Patrol says 17-year-old Kristen Schliep, of Holloway, the driver, 70-year-old Leonard Meyer, of Appleton, were taken to local hospitals.

Superintendent Brad Madsen says both were treated and released. He says 10 students of various ages were on the bus.

The Patrol says the bus was eastbound on Highway 12 when it went into the oncoming lane, overcorrected, and ran off the road about 15 miles west of Benson.
