Medical Examiner: Man Died From Meth Overdose

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A man who was arrested in St. Paul on Oct. 6 after a disturbance and subsequently collapsed died of an overdose of methamphetamine, the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office determined Thursday.

Joseph Anthony Garcia, 51, was placed in handcuffs on put on a street curb after police responded to a disturbance on the 300 block of Ramsey Street. Authorities said he then suddenly fell to one side and became unresponsive.

Officers attempted to revive Garcia until medical personnel arrived. He was transported to Region's Hospital, where he later died.

The medical examiner ruled Thursday Garcia died of accidental methamphetamine toxicity.
