BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) – It’s going to be a busy day at the Mall of America’s Chapel of Love this Friday, as a number of couples plan on tying the knot on 11/11/11.
“It will be one (couple) right after the other,” said Felicia Glass-Wilcox, who owns the Chapel of Love at the mall.
One couple planning on getting hitched this Friday are Rob Sawey and Jill Simerlein.
Sawey and Simerlein claim they never actually considered the numerical significance of the date when planning their wedding.
“Actually, we didn’t think about it at all. It just kind of settled in that way,” said Simerlein.
Their wedding day also falls on Veterans Day, and Sawey is a veteran himself.
Sawey said he knows he will be in the doghouse if he ever forgets their anniversary.
Indeed, Glass-Wilcox says that the date might be so popular because it will be easy to remember in the future. It could also be based on superstition.
“It could be,” she said. “Because at 06/06/06, we didn’t have anybody.”
