MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 65-year-old Fairmont man was killed and three others were injured after a head-on crash in Watonwan County near Lewisville on Saturday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities identified the man as Gary R. Fenrich. Two 16-year-old boys and a 19-year-old man were transported to a hospital, treated and released.

The accident happened just before 11 a.m. Saturday on Highway 15 south of Highway 60 in Watonwan County. According to the State Patrol, Fenrich was driving a 2003 Ford Escape northbound on Highway 15 when a 2006 Toyota Prius, with the three teenagers inside, was traveling southbound and crossed over the center line.

It created a head-on collision. Authorities pronounced Fenrich dead at the scene. The State Patrol said a juvenile was driving the Prius, and their name will not be released. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Madelia Police and the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Minnesota State Patrol at the scene.
