CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (WCCO) – A college football player from Burnsville is recovering in an Iowa hospital after being stabbed at a party over the weekend.

Varmah Sonie is a junior at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Police said, some people crashed a party he was at early Sunday morning and a fight broke out.

The 21-year-old defensive back was stabbed in the stomach.

Sonie has undergone surgery. Doctors say the injuries are non-life threatening.

So far no arrests have been made in the case.
