MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — With a little additional incentive donation from the Pohlad family, the University of Minnesota is now less than a million dollars away from reaching the amount they need to build a new baseball stadium. Optimistically, they’d like to start digging dirt in June.

Not only is Eric Decker enjoying a great season with the Denver Broncos, his step brother, Nate Meyer, is the starting quarterback for state semi-final team ROCORI High School.

The reason the University of New Mexico had interest in former Gopher football coach Glen Mason was because the athletic director, Paul Krebs, was number two at Ohio State when Mason applied for the football job.

The word is former Totino Grace running back John Crockett, who is sitting out at North Dakota State University for academics, will be one of the best athletes on the team.

University of Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi had knee surgery on Monday and was back at work the next day.

Royce White has been impressive at Iowa State, wining rookie of the week honors and impressing with his athleticism.

Khalid El-Amin is still recovering from a quadriceps injury and said he plans to back overseas somewhere by the first of the year.

Former gopher volleyball coach Mike Hebert coached a national team recently, including one of his former players, Jesse Jones.

Gopher hockey coach Don Lucia and wrestling coach J Robinson have a new bond — they are both first-time grandparents.
