Minn. Senate To Hold Vikings Stadium Hearings

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Senate will hold two hearings on proposals for the state to help build a new Minnesota Vikings stadium, as Gov. Mark Dayton meets with backers of possible sites.

Dayton met Wednesday with the mayor and a city council member from Arden Hills, where the team wants to build a $1.1 billion stadium with financial assistance from the state. Dayton says the officials told him there is strong local support for building on a huge, undeveloped piece of land that was once an Army ammunition plant.

Several sites in downtown Minneapolis are also in play.

Also Wednesday, state Sen. Julianne Ortman says she will convene several informational hearings on the proposal: one on Nov. 29 and one on Dec. 6. No state House hearings have been called.
