11 Occupy Protesters Arrested At U Of M Rally

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) — Eleven protesters connected with the Occupy Wall Street movement have been arrested on the 10th Avenue Bridge for creating a public nuisance or obstructing traffic.

The protesters were rallying at the University of Minnesota against what they call corporate greed. All 11 had announced their intention in advance to be arrested, according to Sgt. William Palmer, of the Minneapolis Police Department.

About 40 demonstrators gathered on the plaza outside Northrop Auditorium in solidarity with other Occupy protests nationwide Thursday on the two-month anniversary of the movement's birth in New York.

They chanted slogans like "Up with people" and "Down with greed" before marching off toward downtown Minneapolis, where protesters have been occupying the plaza outside the Hennepin County Government Center since Oct. 7.
