Woman Dies After Lying Down In Traffic On I-94

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed on eastbound Interstate 94 near 7th St. in Minneapolis Thursday morning.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation said the incident happened around 6:40 a.m.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the person who died was a woman, but her name hasn't been released yet.

According to Lt. Eric Roeske of the State Patrol, the woman walked into traffic and laid down before being struck by multiple cars.

The right two lanes were closed while authorities investigated, but the State Patrol says they have since reopened.

Investigators are still looking into what may have led to the woman being out in the middle of the road. No identification was found on her person.

Crews were reportedly aware of the woman's presence on the roadway and were rushing to the scene before she was struck, but they were simply not able to reach her fast enough.

The State Patrol said they are seeking two drivers they believe were involved in the incident -- one was driving a smaller car and the other a pickup truck.
