Minn. Woman Survives After Train Slams Her Truck
BROOKSTON, Minn. (AP) — St. Louis County authorities say a motorist escaped serious injury when her vehicle stalled on train tracks just as a locomotive was bearing down.
The sheriff's office responded Saturday afternoon to a railroad crossing near Brookston. Deputies say a 51-year-old woman from Culver was trying to cross the tracks when her truck stalled.
At the same time, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train was approaching the crossing at about 40 mph. The locomotive slammed into the rear passenger side of the truck, pushing it into a ditch.
The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck sustained heavy damage.
The woman's name hasn't been released.
