ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota forward Nick Bjugstad scored three goals and Kent Patterson notched his school-record sixth shutout to lead the Golden Gophers to a 5-0 win Saturday over St. Cloud State.
Bjugstad helped the top-ranked Gophers (11-3-0, 8-2-0) earn a weekend split with the Huskies (6-6-2, 4-3-1). It was the sophomore’s first career hat trick.
Patterson made 30 saves to get his sixth shutout in just 14 games.
Bjugstad had Minnesota’s first goal, then scored twice in a span of 2:31 of the third period.
Jake Hansen and Mark Alt also scored. Erik Haula and Nate Schmidt had two assists apiece.
