ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — St. Cloud State freshman Ryan Faragher made 40 saves to lead the Huskies to a 4-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association win over top-ranked Minnesota on Saturday.
Faragher was the difference as the Golden Gophers (10-3-0, 7-2-0) outshot St. Cloud State 43-18. He made 28 saves in the first two periods as the Huskies (6-5-2, 4-2-1) took a 4-1 lead.
SCSU’s Ben Hanowski and Nick Bjugstad exchanged goals for a 1-1 tie, but the Huskies’ Cam Reid put St. Cloud State ahead to stay 2-1 late in the first period.
Nic Dowd and Jared Festler added to SCSU’s lead in the second.
Tom Serratore and Kyle Rau also scored for Minnesota.
Minnesota goalie Kent Patterson had 14 saves.
