ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — St. Cloud State freshman Ryan Faragher made 40 saves to lead the Huskies to a 4-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association win over top-ranked Minnesota on Saturday.

Faragher was the difference as the Golden Gophers (10-3-0, 7-2-0) outshot St. Cloud State 43-18. He made 28 saves in the first two periods as the Huskies (6-5-2, 4-2-1) took a 4-1 lead.

SCSU’s Ben Hanowski and Nick Bjugstad exchanged goals for a 1-1 tie, but the Huskies’ Cam Reid put St. Cloud State ahead to stay 2-1 late in the first period.

Nic Dowd and Jared Festler added to SCSU’s lead in the second.

Tom Serratore and Kyle Rau also scored for Minnesota.
