Vikings Stadium Public Hearings Begin Next Week
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Members of the public looking to voice their opinion on a potential Vikings stadium will have the chance to do so next week but they're asked to sign up in advance and keep it short.
The first public hearing will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 15 at the State Capitol. It will focus on potential sites for a new stadium. The following Tuesday, a second hearing will be held to focus on public funding sources for the project.
Those who would like to speak are encouraged to sign up ahead of time by emailing Senate Tax Committee administrator Beth Kadoun at beth.kadoun@state.mn or 651-296-5640. Those who do not sign up in advance will be able to speak as time permits.
While there is no set time limit for speakers, but officials ask people to keep their remarks as short as possible. Seating in the room will also be limited, but overflow rooms with televisions will be set up as well.
In addition to the public speaking portion of the hearing, representatives from the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, Ramsey County, Minneapolis and the Minnesota Vikings are also expected to testify.
Senate Republican leaders say the purpose of the hearings is to get input from the people before putting together a final stadium bill.
