Fleet Farm Changes Mind, Will Allow Bell Ringers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota-based Mills Fleet Farm has changed its mind about allowing Salvation Army bell ringers to stand outside their stores.

At first, the company said it would not to allow the ringers from the Red Kettle campaign, deciding instead to give direct donations to the Salvation Army.

Now, though, the company calls that decision "unfortunate" and has since decided to allow the bell ringers.

The co-president of Mills Fleet Farm told a reporter earlier this year the company was worried about setting a precedent, saying that it could open the floodgates for others wanting to raise money in front of the stores.
