Minneapolis Police Investigate Suspicious Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A mother in north Minneapolis discovered the body of her daughter in an apartment complex late Wednesday morning.

Responding officers went to a small apartment complex on the 4100 block of Thomas Avenue North to investigate. Family members said a brother and sister lived in the apartment.

Police said they are not calling the death a homicide, but are still considering it a "suspicious death."

A friend of the victim's family said the victim is a woman in her early 20s. He said they found the woman beat up and bruised in the bedroom.

"We came over because she had been calling her son and her daughter. No has been answering for a couple of days," said Dwayne Hutchinson.

When the victim's mother walked into the apartment, she saw her daughter lying in the bed. They tried to wake her but noticed she wasn't breathing.

Crime scene investigators and the medical examiner are looking into the cause of death. Police say they are questioning the victim's brother.
