Nonprofit Bike Shop Opens In North Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A new, nonprofit bike shop called Venture North opened Monday in north Minneapolis and it offers its community sales, repairs and coffee.

But it doesn’t just sell bikes, it promotes a lifestyle. The people behind Venture North say bikes aren’t just great for transportation, they’re also great for your health. The experience offers a way to build both muscle and friendships. It also offers a certain city freedom.

“How free do you want to be?” said Marilu Thomas, Venture North’s executive director. “Here in Minneapolis, we have phenomenal trails.”

The nonprofit’s goal is rather ambitious: It seeks to get every person who isn’t on a bike on a bike.

Venture North is located at 1830 Glenwood Ave. North.

Right. Non-profit. Just the like the Northside companies that were giving laptops to families in need? What a farce!

No problemo…..bikes will disappear in a couple weeks…

Nice try to promote the lifestyle, you can’t change that lifestyle.
