SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) — Police have identified the woman who died after a sport utility vehicle plunged into Lake Superior in Superior.
She was 24-year-old Ashley Lynn Ganyo of Duluth, Minn. Police say Ganyo recently graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and was still living in the Duluth area.
A preliminary autopsy report finds Ganyo drowned. Police say alcohol, weather and speed may have contributed to the crash, but toxicology reports are not expected for several weeks.
Police were called Sunday morning to a boat landing in the Billings Park neighborhood. Officers found a mostly submerged SUV in the water.
The victim was found seat-belted in the driver’s seat.
