Twins Trade Slowey To Colorado Rockies
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Twins have traded right-handed pitcher Kevin Slowey to the Colorado Rockies for a player to be named later, according to the team.
Last season, Slowey, 27, lost a competition in spring training to be in the starting rotation. According to the team, he ended the season with a 6.67 ERA in 59 1/3 innings.
Slowey battled injuries all season including forearm issues and an abdominal strain. He did end up finishing the season in the starting rotation.
According to the Twins, Slowey struggled as a starter, going 0-8 with a 7.25 ERA in eight outings.
Last season, Slowey made $2.7 million and was a non-tender candidate for the Twins.
The Twins are starting to make moves as the team tries to rebuild after a 2011 season record of 63-99 and ended up last in the Central Division.
On Monday, the Twins and closer Matt Capps agreed to a $4.75 million, one-year contract, pending a physical.
