Denny Hecker's Wife Released From Prison

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The wife of beleaguered auto mogul Denny Hecker has been released from federal prison and is back in Minneapolis, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Christi Rowan-Hecker, 38, was sent to the Federal Correctional Institution in Greenville, Ill. after being sentenced on fraud charges. In March, she was sentenced to spend 14 months in federal prison for stealing money that belonged to Denny Hecker's creditors.

Now, she has been remanded to the custody of Minneapolis Community Corrections.

She was initially expected to get probation last spring, until then authorities found out she was still using an American Express gift cards after the judge ordered them seized by the FBI.

The judge was outraged and gave her the maximum sentence, which included paying about $36,000 in restitution and serve five years of probation.

Meanwhile, former auto mogul Denny Hecker is serving out his 10-year sentence in a prison camp in Duluth. The two were married in an over-the-phone ceremony in February.
