Minn. Boy Scout Honored For Saving Girl's Life

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- A brave Boy Scout from Crystal, Minn. is set to be honored Wednesday morning. The 13-year-old boy will be given the America Heroism Award.

Back in August 2010, Daniel Chapman rescued a 2-year-old girl from a pool while he and his family were staying at a campground in Lincoln, Neb.

The girl fell into a pool and sank to the bottom. Chapman, who is not a strong swimmer, jumped in and pulled her to the surface.

He will be honored with the Heroism Award at Wednesday's St. Paul Million Dollar Day for Scouting Breakfast.

The ceremonies are at 8 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Riverfront Ballroom. Fewer than 100 of these heroism medals are handed out each year around the country.
