Obama Mentions Marvin Windows During Speech

WARROAD, Minn. (AP) — A company set in the remote woodlands of northern Minnesota is highlighted by President Barack Obama during a speech on his economic vision.

Obama cited the fourth-generation-owned Marvin Windows and Doors in Warroad, a community of 1,700 that hugs the Minnesota border in Roseau County. During a speech in a small Kansas town Tuesday, the president used Marvin as an example of a business obligated to its employees.

Obama said that while Marvin's competitors let hundreds of workers go during the recession, Marvin didn't lay off any of its 4,000 employees. The president went on to say the workers as well as the owners gave up perks and pay when times got tough.

George Marvin founded the company in Warroad in 1912.
