Report: DWI Attorney Arrested For DWI

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Stillwater DWI attorney found himself in jail early Friday morning after being arrested for allegedly drinking and driving, authorities said.

Washington County jail documents show Samuel Surface was booked for DWI at 1:08 a.m. and released at 3:37 a.m.

According to Surface’s website, he can answer all your questions when it comes to DWI laws in Minnesota.

“Sam Surface is an attorney who is up to date on the current status of DWI and DUI law and can best defend your rights,” his site says.

Surface confirmed his arrest to the St. Paul Pioneer Press Friday, saying he made a shortsighted decision and should have known better.

    Would love to see who defends this DWI attorney for DWI and how the system treats this attorney for his misjudgment.

          Insinuating he was treated like this because he was a friend of the judge is rather uninformed and irresponsible, yes?

          I am a DWI attorney and if it is a first offense/4th degree DWI under .20 you are always released with no baiul within 2-4 hours. Depends on how fast they can get you booked. There wa sno special treatment here.

            10 years ago I had one.
            I was booked at Hennipen at 1:30am. I blew a .14 and didn’t get released until 8:30am.

        The booking process took 2 1/2 hours and he was released on his own recognizance.

        Nothing special because he was an attorney and was getting some kind of special treatment. Happens all the time.

    well,they caught judges ‘n’ police officers drivin’ drunk before too,can happen to anyone,eh?…it aint a perfect world…dwi lawyers dupe too many people into wasting even more money on a bogus defense that rarely works ’cause once ya blow into the machine or get a blood test it’s very difficult to get outta trouble,and thats gonna cost plenty enough as it is,let alone pay a lawyer on top of it all…

    gawd almighty I love to see this. I am willing to represent the perp for less than he’d f-you out of. I’ll only charge $250 and hour, $2500 retainer plus all legal costs, etc
