MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Police are investigating after finding a man deceased near the Mississippi River. While they initially ruled the death suspicious, they are now saying it’s not.

Authorities received a call around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to a location along the river, commonly known as the East River Flats. The person who called police said there was an unresponsive man near the shore.

Upon arrival, police found the man and determined he was dead.

Minneapolis homicide detectives are investigating and say the death is not suspicious. They say the man appears to be between the ages of 18 and 22.

Police say there’s no apparent trauma to the body. The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy.

Sgt. Steve McCarty of the Minneapolis Police said they are working to try and determine his identification.
